Curiosity and Wonder

I wonder if it will fly.

when you know it all and don't need to learn anymore the wonder is gone. I still hear myself asking questions like this. I wonder what the J 3 model look like with floats. Then I will be asking myself, "I wonder if it will have enough power to take off from the water.... Those kind of questions keep me going from day to day. If I don't try something I won't gain anything.

I wonder what pine log beams accross the ceiling of my carving studio would look like. If I put one in the ceeiling to look like support. I wonder what it would look like with a log to break up the wall. I know what a common ceiling with sheet rock looks like. it is more of a challenge to wonder, experiment and make my own design.

Motivations through the years

1920's Keep up with my brothers.
1930's One cent per stripped gopher 5 cent / pocket gopher/ 75 cents for weasel fur/2.50 for 3 one prime skunk fur.
1940 Graduate from Milan High School
1945 "If you guys clear this village before dark you can have a warm dry place to sleep tonight
1946 Make enough money to put some gas in my Stearman
1948 Marry a good wife and raise a good family/
1948 Own our own home. Have the renters help pay the mortgage.

education

The more you are interested in learning the more you find out. /even now i go to carving classes. it isn't only the product you make. It is a challenge to wonder, Am i going to be able to do this. It is easy to say i am too old to do this. It doesn't make any difference I am still old. Keep at it. It is an inspiration for grand kids...../ great grandkids. Set an an example. If I think as a grandpa I should be setting an example: that keeps me motivated. Going to a carving class to learn new skills is motivating.
When it comes to trying something new like maybe making a Norwegian knife I ask myself the question "Why not?" My answer is there is no reason not and then I end up taking another class at the Milan village arts school.

Motivations and Challenges

My kids and other people sometimes ask, "What keeps you motivated to work on so many projects?" I tell them it is my family and the interactions with kids, grandkids and great grandkids. They are always interested in what I am doing and want to know my progress. When it comes to spiritual life our being is made up of something that gives us the driving force which is the holy spirit . If you nurture that and think about it, (I guess this is meditation), that gives you motivation.
In exchange you have toto keep an interest in what your kids, grandkids are doing and that gives them motivations too. Keeping kids in high priority is motivation for parents and kids alike.

If my family needed the kitchen table after dinner sometimes it was covered with my model airplanes. My mother and dad would just smile. the only time she ever got after me was when I was up too late. Motivation came from my parents who showed some interest and didn't
